I have a suggestion to expand the script.
I have a web site with a lot of .ZIP and .RAR files. Many of the Compressed files have Comments in them, or they have a .diz or .nfo file in the compressed file (a file that contains a description of what is in the compressed file).
Could you expand the script to optionally show the zip file comments or .diz file contents in the link title (like where you currently show the owner permissions). That was users browsing the directory index of files would know what exactly is in a ZIP file based on the compressed file's comments or .DIZ/.NFO file contents prior to downloading the file. |

I might add a feature like this in a future version...
If I do, I'll also add an option to let people actually browse through compressed files as if they are folders (and possibly download individual files from an archive).
The only problem with this is I'm not sure if the default install of PHP supports this.
I'll look into it soon. |

that would be awesome! it sounds really cool, i have seen it done before but long ago.. im not shure but it may have used the gzip compression or something.
i remember the old Renegade/BBS days when we would dial up to the BBS and search the filebases they had it function just like that... choosing files inside zips and the sorts of that, also viewing .diz files with the cool ascii.
sounds like a great idea. if using the compression on the server it may make the load heavy. but if php supports something like that then NICE! |

PHP only suppors .gz compression by default. It can read zip files, but only if a special library is installed in the server.
I don't think rar files can be read at all.
So if I do add any feature like this, it would probably only be with .gz files. |
